Landmarks Illinois recently announced the Julia C. Lathrop Homes as the recipient of the Richard Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award for Rehabilitation. The rehabilitation project resulted in two- and thre-story walk-up rowhouses, property management and retail space, a boat house, woodshop and a future community room for residences. In addition, the property’s Great Lawn was restored as green space for both Lathrop residents and the surrounding community.

CharterSills was brought into the project by Lathrop Community Partner Related Midwest and architects Harley Ellis Devereaux. Other community partners include Heartland Housing and Bickerdike Redevelopment Corp. Other architects involved in this project include bKL Architecture and Juan Gabriel Moreno Architects. Additional principals included Michael Van Valkenburgh Architects, McGuire Igleski, MacRostie Historic Advisors, LLC and Farr & Associates.

At CharterSills we are honored to be a part of this historic renovation of a national-register property.
